Nasarean.org was founded by Father Benedict Kiely, and supported by Image Outfitters, The Stowe UPS Store, and the good people of Stowe, VT, to help, in some small way, Christians suffering under the persecution of militant Islam throughout the world. This is a conflict that has been going on for centuries - and will not end until the final victory of Christ.
Our Lady of Saidnaya
The Monastery of Our Lady of Saidnaya is located 20 miles from Damascus, Syria. One of the most ancient monasteries in the world, the convent houses the Icon of Our Lady of Saidnaya, the Icon of the All-Holy Virgin, believed to be one of the four existing icons painted by St. Luke of Our Blessed Lady. Venerated by the faithful for centuries, we place nasarean.org under Her protection - and ask Her prayers for all the suffering Christians of the Middle East. The convent has been attacked many times by the forces of Islamic darkness, but through Her miraculous protection, has been saved.
St. Sharbel Makhlouf
Saint Sharbel is the great saint of Lebanon - he prays for us and his suffering children across the Levant.
Saint Louis of France
Saint Louis - a model ruler and Crusader Saint - pray for us and for a renewal of Christianity in the secular West.
G. K. Chesterton
His cause for canonization is now open - he was, along with Hilaire Belloc, one of the great prophets of the 20th Century. He warned of the permanent danger of Islam - "a void is made in the heart of Islam which has to be filled up again and again by a mere repetition of the revolution that founded it…..it is a permanent menace."
Prayer to the Virgin, written by St. John of Damascus in the 7th Century, sung by Sister Marie Keyrouz, a Melkite Christian nun - in Syrian/Arabic:
"Thou, most blessed of women, let us not appeal to human intercession, but receive the prayer of Thy sons, for we are overwhelmed by all manner of persecutions. We have no other refuge but Thee. Thou, Queen of the World: Hope of Christians, do not forsake us, but choose that which is meet unto us. He that appeals unto Thee will never returned disappointed, pure Virgin, Mother of God; he that beseeched Thy grace will receive what is meet unto him."
